First post with a question.

First of all, I'd like to say hello to everyone and it's quite interesting to be posting on an hypnosis board. Just from lurking about I see that this is more friendly than a lot of boards I've visited. :)

Anyway, onto my question. I've been wondering if it is possible to use hypnosis to sort of... undo psychological damage caused by past traumatizing events. You see, about a year ago, I had a really rough time at boarding school. I had a couple really really 'bad' teachers, along with a whole buncha other bullshit, and to put it simply- I came back a shattered person. So here I am now, looking for a solution to help repair the damage that was caused and so I ask, is it possible to find a hypnosis file, or perhaps a hypnotist locally that might be able to help me undo the mental road blocks and damage that occurred way back when?

Yes hypnosis would definatley be able to do what u asked. I am not sure there are any files that would fit your case exactly here.

What damage do you believe was done?

Well, after the countless therapy sessions I had I have a general idea at least. I left there with shattered confidence, lost my willpower, and a drug habit (I've been smoking a lotta pot heh). That's the general basis of the damage from what I can tell. Another way to look at it, and this is what the doctors are saying, is I have a nice heavy dose of depression. Either way you look at it, it's not pretty :? Before I went, I loved to program and work on computers and electronics. Afterwards, I can't bring myself to do anything except sit around and browse the internet. I'm having a hell of a time even playing the games I used to love to play anymore :(

Here's my list of files I recommend for you:

Be a leader by Mooncycle : To rebuild your confidence
CurseStrightedge by helion0 : To quit pot(maybe a little extreme but it'll work)
Opened by helion0 : To improve the way you look at the world in general

I hope that helps your depression. BTW, are you currently taking antidepressants?

Well if you do get prescribed them my advice is to not take them. Pills will not make you better.I had a work friend that was depressed. The pills only made him worse.Just stopping the pills helped him.But after a few sessions with me he is fine now.

Try the files as suggested. P.S make this your last visit to the internet for a week at least (after downloading the files of course).

If you think you need more than just the files maybe seeing a local Hypnotherapist or NLP practitioner.

Heh, you all hit on some really good points as far as medication goes. However there is one thing you missed- The fact that the medications are really only there to take the edge off. If the issue that's being dealt with is a chemical imbalance, the medications I took in the days of yesteryears would have made me feel completely normal. This was not the case, which leads me to believe something more needs to be done. I've been in therapy for 11 fsking years, and I'm pretty damn sick of it, and by this point I know what the medications can and cannot do. They aren't magic little pills that fix everything, they're just aids to help deal with it and get over it faster.

So I'd like to touch on the use of a hypnotherapist, as I've been flip flopping between therapists lately. I read an FAQ on how to tell if someone is good or not, but my issue is finding someone near by that isn't gonna try to scalp me or something for all the money I've got. So I was wondering what should I look for when interviewing an hypnotherapist? What are some good questions to ask aside from the usual "Have you dealt with a case like me before?" and checking to see if they want to have me come too many times based upon the problem. Speaking of which, how many visits would it take to get this fixed?

EDIT: I just realized I didn't read all the responses, it seems darkmind hit the nail on the head. oopsie dasie :P

I just thought I'd do a follow up post, and let you guys know that I managed to find someone. Thanks to him, my depression is- for the most part, dealt with. I feel MUCH better now, and I can't thank you all enough for the help you've all provided.

Thank you guys, very very much! :)
