If you had to define your life as a path, what would it be?

Hey all I'm new here. I recently was at a psych lecture at my local college where they talked about viewing your life as a self defined path and I was curious what others would think. I'm a somatic person, I try to be a tool (har har) for my own use instead of using tools...if that makes any sense. ...

Think of one that best describes you, that's why they're self defined. :D

I'll quote what a friend of mine told me once over email when I asked her about the adage that we can't be hypnotised into doing something we don't want to: That is a common myth, perpetuated by the hypnotism industry. They have a bit of a catch-22, even beyond their own contradictory double-talk:Th...

The technique for controlling one's perception of time is called Lentation, more commonly it is referred to as Time Distortion. Many people believed that an increase in adrenal output was required to accomplish this, and if so it would be hazardous to your health in the long run. Fortunately this is...

TrainGravityAdaptation, I voted for that, seems plausible to me and if rendered permanent it means you'd never have to take time out of your day to exercise again.

I guess the way I interpret the definition for a somatic path is being able to rely on my own body, being, self etc. One of the definitions of somatic in my dictionary says "Of, or involving the self" and when combined with the other definitions, applies to the body and mind in my point of view, whi...

Speaking of abused spouses, a friend of mine was walking through town one day (he's a very old school Italian man), and he saw a guy start slapping his wife, she was crying and trying to get away, so he went and knocked the guy's block off...only to have the wife jump on his back and start clawing a...

Flies have such fast reflexes not because their central nervous systems are more efficient than ours, but because the distance the signals have to travel is much shorter. Nerve impulses only travel about 120 meters per second, much much much slower than light. Just thought I'd mention that for the s...

I'm told another good one is:

Monsters and Magical Sticks: There is No Such Thing as Hypnosis by Steven Heller and Terry Steele.

I have yet to sit down and read it for myself though.

This is very cool but potentially dangerous. Non REM sleep repairs parts of the brain damaged by metabolism and free radicals, if you persue this, don't be surprised if you start craving Flavonoid rich things such as dark chocolate and grape juice.

Well I imagine it would probably feel like strong cravings, as to whether you'd NEED it or not I'm unsure, as you may get enough anitoxidants from other sources in your diet. Processing chocolate into milk chocolate/white chocolate tends to destroy any effects that epicatechin has as a flavonoid, wh...

Could be that they said they gave up on it to dissuade others from trying. To paraphrase an aquaintance of mine; Let's not forget about Annie Besant and C. W. I've used Wikipedia since its inception and I've never gained spyware from it. I have over 12 different layers of protections and alerts, plus I used to work tech support for fixing spyware on a daily basis so I know what to look for. Some people sleep deprive themselves for a couple days while keeping busy so that they can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. When they do finally allow themselves to crash, they only do so for 15 minutes, then they drudgingly force themselves to wake up and keep busy for another couple hours and the...

TrainGravity makes sense to me. It seems that it would put the body at it's peak level in a general sense (think of how healthy you'd be in that good of shape, with regards to immunostrenght and healing speed)...without exercising. I once had a dream that I was closed in an iron maiden. It was so vivid that I could feel the spikes pushing into my body and felt the horrendous pain. When I woke up, I had phantom pain in the same spots where the spikes entered, which lasted for about a minute. Pretty freaky I guess.

That's interesting. I read some psychiatric speculations once about the guy who was attacked by the heartland ghost Sally (anyone remember that?). Anyway, they figured that the wounds which spontaneously appeared on his body, forming on camera, were the result of very powerful psychosomatic effects....

Was the holocaust right? I bet the Nazis thought so. Maybe it's true that morality is written by the winner, and that's the last I have to say on this subject...and no, I don't condone the holocaust.

I voted 2, I think that any changes within human possibility can be made. Turning to mist, or into a chair, I think are outside of influence.
